The Disneyland Resort Baby Care Centers: Home away from home for babies and toddlers

June 1, 2021 in All Posts, babies & toddlers, disney california adventure, disneyland, disneyland resort, Tips & Tricks for Families by Lisa Robertson

*Editor’s Note: This post has been updated in 2021 to reflect current protocols in place during the COVID-19 pandemic*

The Baby Center is your baby’s home away from home and is a great resource for all things “baby” while you are at Disneyland. The Baby Center is located at the end of Main Street on the east side right near First Aid and the Plaza Inn Restaurant and at Disney California Adventure near the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain in the Pacific Wharf (just beyond Cars Land).  The Baby Care Centers are clean and quiet and a definite refuge from the noise and distractions of the resort.  Moreover, the Baby Care Centers sell necessities you may have forgotten at home.  The items are available at a premium, but it’s nice to know you can purchase them if you forget them at home.  Available for purchase at the Baby Center are diapers, pullups, wipes, pacifiers, diaper rash ointment, powder, bottles, Pedialyte, formula, baby food, and Children’s Tylenol.  You can purchase these items in the vending machine that is currently located at the front of the center on the Disneyland side.

For your baby’s feeding needs, the Baby Care Centers have clean highchairs and a kitchen where you can warm baby food and bottles.  In the kitchen area of the Baby Center, you can also wash bottles and other baby feeding items and get filtered tap water. (You can fill up your water bottles from home too! No need to spend $3 on a bottle of water at the Corn Dog Wagon right outside the Baby Center!)

Breastfeeding moms especially love the distraction-free nursing area. It is very private–away from those coming and going from the Baby Center. There you can comfortable rock you baby in their rocking chairs while nursing and taking a break. It is important to note that babies may be bottle fed in the nursing area, but only by moms (no dads or other children are permitted) so that the nursing moms may maintain their privacy. While I know that many babies are great nursing “on the go,” it’s nice to know that babies who are easily distracted have a place where they can nurse in peace and quiet.

Moms visiting the Disneyland Resort without another adult who need to nurse and have more than one child with them may want to consider doing so in the “Lost Children” area of the Baby Center. I’ve done it on a number of times. It is not as private as the nursing area, but more private than a bench in Central Plaza! The Cast Members will be happy to provide your other children with books to read at their activity table. Consider bringing a quiet activity like a coloring book and crayons to help the time pass for your non-nursing children. If your other children aren’t the type who can sit quietly while you nurse, this likely won’t be  your best option.

Private area for pumping – curtain and outlet

Breastfeeding mothers can also pump in the Baby Care Centers’ nursing areas.  When it comes to storing the pump, moms have a couple of options. You can get a locker (for a fee) or, per the current COVID-19 protocols, you can store your pump at the Baby Care Center (instead of First Aid). You will need to fill out a form and make sure there are no personal items left with the pump. The only thing is that they will not store your milk at First Aid or the Baby Center, so you would need to bring a small cooler to store it in, in which case you may need a locker anyway if you don’t plan to lug it around in your stroller or feed to the baby while you are there.

Also available at the Baby Center is a fantastic and very clean changing room complete with padded, spacious changing tables, sink for hand washing, sink for washing soiled cloth diapers and soiled clothing, and itty, bitty potties for those learning to potty train or are just not big enough for the larger potties throughout the park.  (Children must be under 40 inches to use these potties.)  There are no restrooms for adults or older children at the Disneyland Baby Care Center but there is a “family” restroom in the Disney California Adventure Baby Care Center. The closest restrooms at Disneyland are available at the entrance of Tomorrowland on the other side of the Plaza Inn Restaurant (from the Baby Center).  If you have a special needs child who needs toileting or diapering facilities, the First Aid offices in both parks are more than happy to accommodate all of your needs in a quiet, peaceful environment.

I love the Baby Center! It’s such a relief to take my daughter there instead of dodging the long lines of people walking past the changing station in the regular bathrooms.
