Disneyland Holiday Q & A: What special treats are available at holiday time at Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort?

November 24, 2011 in All Posts, dining, disney california adventure, disneyland resort, holidays by Babes in Disneyland
Special holiday foods have become just as a part of the season as decor and entertainment at the Disneyland Resort and this year is certainly no exception. The master food innovators at the Disneyland Resort have out done themselves this year to bring some really great treats to Disney California Adventure Park.

At a recent media event held for bloggers, I had the opportunity to sample all of these amazing desserts. Please note, that the sample sizes photographed are smaller than their actual sizes in the park. All of the desserts cost $3-$5.

All food is better when it’s on a stick (i.e. corn dogs!), and now Karlos Siqueiros (the resort’s concept manager for food and beverage) and his team of food geniuses have managed to take food on a stick to the next level–DESSERT. At Paradise Garden Grill, a restaurant in Disney California Adventure Park known for it’s delicious skewers, guests can now purchase brownie skewers. Above is a slightly smaller version of what you can get at the grill.

Topped with toasted coconut, the smooth, creamy mango parfait also includes delicious berries and a fortune cookie garnish. The dessert can also be made gluten free.

For me, the big surprise of the night was the almond cookie sandwich. I’ve never been a huge fan of almond cookies, but this dessert won me over. The soft cookie and strawberry cream are delightful. In the park, it is approximately the size of an ice cream sandwich. It is surprisingly rich and great for sharing if you don’t have a big appetite.

A definite favorite for many in attendance at the media event, was the warm San Francisco White Chocolate & Cranberry Bread Pudding available at the Pacific Wharf Cafe.

My absolute favorite dessert of the night was the Sweet Dulce de Leche Dessert Nachos with Fruit Topping. Served at Cocina Cucamonga, the dessert is made up of cinnamon and sugar tortilla crisps topped with strawberries, whip cream, and a light drizzle of dulce de leche sauce. The flavors are simply amazing.

Although not “dessert,” the special sour dough loafs available at Pacific Wharf Cafe and a fantastic addition to the Resort’s holiday offerings.
