Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Disney Social Media Moms On the Road Celebration at the Disneyland Resort where I was excited to learned more about many of the exciting recent and future changes, additions and special events coming to Disney Parks and Resorts. I can’t wait to experience all of the magic and excitement by land and by sea!
Disneyland & Walt Disney World
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is coming to Disney California Adventure Park next summer (2017). Guests who board the reimagined and rethemed Hollywood Tower of Terror will face face off with none other than Tanaleer Tivan, the Collector who has has opened his unique collection of fauna, relics and species to riders for a special tour culminating with his latest prized possessions: the actual Guardians of the Galaxy! Fortunately, Riders will team with Rocket to free the Guardians in what is sure to be a most thrilling journey. The attraction is a joint collaboration with Marvel and Walt Disney Imagineering.
Soarin’ Around the World, a new experience based on the original Soarin’ Over California attraction at Disney California Adventure, now takes guests on a global journey from at the Disneyland Resort. The latest airborne adventure offers breathtaking scenes from locations around the world: over the snowy peak of the Matterhorn, along the Great Wall of China, through the majestic buttes of Monument Valley, hopping over the top of the Great Pyramids of Egypt, and across spectacular Sydney Harbour.
As previously reported here on Babes In Disneyland, the Main Street Electrical Parade, will glitter its way through Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World in Florida on Oct. 9, 2016 and will be heading to Disneyland in early 2017. Learn more by clicking here.
Frozen – Live at the Hyperion,” is one of the latest additions to Disney California Adventure Park. This theatrical adaptation based on Disney’s animated blockbuster film, opened May 27 at the Hyperion Theater and took over the space once occupied by the beloved Aladdin show. This new theatrical interpretation for the stage immerses audiences in the beloved world of Frozen and takes audiences on the heartwarming journey of the characters from the film. The show featured an opening cast and crew of more than 200, six full musical numbers and a 2,200 square foot video wall used in place of elaborate sets for some parts of the show.
Princess Elena of Avalor, the first Latin-inspired Disney princess, received a royal welcome on Aug. 11, 2016 upon her arrival at Magic Kingdom Park in Florida, following the debut of her new Disney Channel animated series, “Elena of Avalor.” The adventurous princess appears daily in “The Royal Welcome of Princess Elena” stage show at Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a huge new lineup of nighttime fun! For starters, the Walt Disney World Resort park’s iconic Tree of Life will undergo extraordinary “awakenings” throughout each evening as the animal spirits are brought to life by magical fireflies.
An all-new show, “The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic,” kicks off the new nighttime experiences at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. It is an epic, limited-engagement celebration that immerses guests in Indian culture with live performers, music, water screens and vibrant costumes with all of the beauty and danger found in the incredible film.
Discovery Island comes together to celebrate their love of the natural world with the Discovery Island Carnivale. This nightly experience includes lively music, jubilant dance, vibrant costumes, stilt walkers and, of course, lots of great food.
Over at Animal Kingdom’s Village of Harambe, the Harambe Wildlife Parti comes to life. The “parti” includes a variety of entertainers and local street musicians, exotic foods and libations, as well as the opportunity to shop with the village artisans and merchants in the vibrant marketplace.
Disney Cruise Line
The Walt Disney Company announced plans on March 3, 2016 to build two additional cruise ships. Each of the new ships will include–in true Disney fashion–immersive family entertainment and storytelling and are slated to set sail in 2021 and 2023. Each ship will be approximately 135,000 gross tons – slightly larger than the newest Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy – and will include about 1,250 guest staterooms.
Aulani
To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the opening of Aulani, the resort has announced new guest experiences for its guests. KA WA‘A, a luau at Aulani, will provide Ohana with an enchanting dining experience and imaginative entertainment. The resort will also feature visits from Moana, Disney’s newest heroine, once the movie hits theaters.
