My kids had a blast at Dapper Day. My oldest has already decided that he will be wearing a black fidora and matching vest for the next Dapper Day. |
The next Dapper Day event at the Disneyland Resort has been announced and the time to start planning is NOW! The next Dapper Day will be Friday, September 6, 2013.
Wait. You don’t know what Dapper Day is? Then you haven’t been reading this blog, have you! You can read my coverage of the February event here and here. For those of you who don’t want to click over to the other posts, here it is a nutshell. Thousands, and I mean THOUSANDS of people show up to the Disneyland Resort in vintage-inspired clothing looking like they stepped right out of the Disneyland concept art to enjoy a day of fun, fashion and new friends at the “Happiest Place on Earth.” And I have to tell you, it is by far, one of the most memorable, fun days I’ve ever spend at Disneyland. I met so many guests and had a blast dressing up my boys (and myself!) to enjoy Disneyland the way it was enjoyed in the 1950s and early 1960s — in style.
I put together this little slideshow to show you just how fun it was!
In addition to the obvious fun I had dressing up and meeting people who have a great sense of classic fashion, I love Dapper Day because it is a real “teachable” moment for kids. For the next Dapper Day I’ll be showing my oldest two boys pictures and videos online of how people used to dress at Disneyland so that they can see the historical perspective and understand that they are recreating a little bit of Disneyland history with their clothes.
If you are planning a trip to the Disneyland Resort in September, consider packing a vintage-inspired outfit for each of your family members. If the guys in your family aren’t into the idea of dressing up, consider going “dapper casual” with a bowling shirt or Hawaiian shirt. No one will be judging your Dapper Day fashion; it’s just about having fun.
If you are a Disneyland local, there’s no excuse not to go! This is not a blockout day for any annual passholders. So if you have a pass, put in for the day off from work now so you can join in the fun.
Best of all, if you are thinking about staying at one of the resort hotels for Dapper Day, here’s a deal that’s tough to turn down. You can save $200 a night at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa with a rate of $209/night and $195/night at The Disneyland Hotel by clicking here or by calling Disney Group Reservations at (714) 520-5005 and request the “Dapper Day Group Rate.”
And if you are a Disney gal doing a little dapper dreaming like
me, I highly recommend checking out Unique Vintage! Ana at Unique Vintage styled me for Dapper Day (that’s the gorgeous gal pictured with her handsome fiance to the right). Everything in the store is to-die-for. Seriously. I felt like a princess that day. It was so refreshing to go from plain old mom to glammed up Disney gal. Unique Vintage has an incredible online store and three stores in So Cal – Burbank, Valencia and Huntington Beach. Click here to get all the details on Unique Vintage.
I met this glam gal while waiting to get on the Mark Twain – also dressed to the nines by Unique Vintage! |
