The Build-A-Bear Workshop in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort is a truly incredible experience. Build-A-Bear Workshops can be found across the United States, but the workshop at Downtown Disney is unique in that it offers special Disney-licensed merchandise and Disneyland-licensed merchandise only available at the Anaheim location.
On Monday, my boys and I made our first trip ever to Build-A-Bear Workshop and they couldn’t believe their eyes. My boys love stuffed animals. Love. And they loved Build-A-Bear. They wanted every animal they layed their eyes on. They loved the Disneyland t-shirts and Captain Hook costume. I have it on good authority that the Easter Bunny may be putting Build-A-Bear gift cards in their baskets if everyone behaves.
The purpose of our visit was not to create our first Disney-inspired stuffed pals, but a sneak preview at Build-A-Bear’s newest additions, Kermit and Miss Piggy. Coming to stores Friday, February 24 and unlike the other “friends” at the workshop, Kermit and Miss Piggy are “puppets.”
Aidan was so excited to get a Kermit and for the entire Build-A-Bear (or in this case “Build-A-Muppet”) experience. After waiting in line he helped stuff his Kermit. It was thrilling to seek Kermit go from a limp from to a stuffed best buddy.
My favorite part of the experience was the heart ceremony. Aidan followed all the directions to make sure that Kermit got just the right heart that would always belong to Aidan.
Afterward, the boys groomed Kermit, making sure he was clean, lint-free and ready for his first trip into Disneyland.
The finished product is so incredible and special. Aidan has been taking Kermit to bed with him ever since and plans on taking him to school tomorrow for pajama day.
The Build-A-Bear Kermit is a really substantial toy. It isn’t in the least big flimsy and appears to be made with very high-quality materials. (I hate cheap stuffed animals!) I am positive it will serve my boys’ imaginations well for years to come.

Kermit and Miss Piggy ($23 each) are available now at Build-A-Bear Workshops across the country. While most existing clothing at Build-A-Bear should fit Miss Piggy or Kermit, there are two special outfits just for Kermit and Miss Piggy available at all stores.

I recommend stopping in at the Downtown Disney Build-A-Bear to build your new Muppet friend. The fun atmosphere and Disneyland-exclusive accessories and clothing make it the best place for a Disney fan to build a new friend–whether your young…or young at heart.
