A Day in Disneyland (Without the Babes!)
November 4, 2013 in All Posts, disneyland, Jessica, Tips & Tricks for Families
This year my husband and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary (I posted a bit about it here). Since we had honeymooned in Disneyland (of course!), we decided to celebrate by reliving the memories and spending a day in Disneyland – without kids. No strollers, no diaper bags, no nap schedules. We got our anniversary buttons – and we’re ready to go! Sounds great right? It did at first to me, but I’ve got to admit, I started to feel pretty guilty about not taking the kids. I went back and forth – I mean, Disneyland is made for...

The magic of being an annual pass holder
November 1, 2013 in All Posts, disney california adventure, disneyland, disneyland resort, legacy annual pass
A friend once asked me if having annual passes ruins the magic of Disneyland for my kids. She told me that because her family only visited Disneyland once each year when she was a child, a trip to Disneyland was mystical and exciting. I, of course, have always told her that my kids do find it magical and special but if I were to be honest, I suppose it does change it a little bit. This 1963 newspaper adsums up how we decideupon our trip to theDisneyland Resort. When my family visits the Disneyland Resort, it often comes about...

The holiday season is just around the corner and with it come three fantastic Disney movies I cannot wait to see. “Frozen,” (opens November 27) is an animated movie that is slated to be a comedy-adventure for the entire family. When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna (voice of Kristen Bell), a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell. Given the details of that post I thought I would share with you some fun facts I learned...

Pirates League 2013 at Disneyland – ramblings, advice and the opportunity to learn from my mistakes
in All Posts, boys, disneyland, halloween, holidays, pirates, pirates league
Last year, we took the boys to Pirates League at Disneyland and this year, it’s back and we took our middle kiddo Brandon for a full makeover for Mickey’s Halloween Party. Open daily throughout Halloween Time, Pirates League is the boys’ equivalent of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. (For information on packages, click here.) As with last year, each child gets a new pirate name and complete makeover given by a real pirate. Brandon is very shy and I felt so bad that he was barely responding to the pirate making him over as she worked. This year, Brandon opted for the ghost...
(Almost) Wordless Wednesday- Disneyland’s Incredible Pumpkin Carvers
October 16, 2013 in All Posts, big thunder ranch, disneyland resort, halloween, Kendra, photography
Last week, during my family’s annual Mickey’s Halloween Party trip, we spent quite a bit of time at the Halloween Carnival at Big Thunder Ranch. My kids enjoyed playing carnival games, coloring masks, and seeing some of their favorite characters in their Halloween costumes. We also loved watching the “Incredible Pumpkin Carvers” at work. Using tools such as carving knives, wood gouges, skewers, scrapers, ribbon, and paint the Disneyland pumpkin carvers spend their days transforming pumpkins of all shapes, sizes, and colors into amazing works of Disney art. Here are a few of the pumpkins currently on display: Elisa the Snow Queen from Disney’s New Movie “Frozen” Genie from Aladdin...
