Disneyland in 2007: The Year of a Million Dreams & Return of The Submarine Voyage

July 8, 2015 in All Posts
The year is 2007 and the Year of a Million Dreams is well underway, having kicked off in October of the previous year.  Little did we know that this year-long promotion would be extended straight into 2008, but that’s a post for another time! For the Year of A Million Dreams, Cast Members made dreams come true by handing out Dream FastPasses, blue Mickey ears featuring clouds, and surprising Guests at every turn with delightful Disney experiences.  2007 was also the year that the Disney Gallery was closed and relocated so the space above Pirates of the Caribbean could be...

Merchandise Monday: Disney Tails pet products for your “Fur Babies”

July 6, 2015 in All Posts, disneyland resort, downtown disney, merchandise, shopping tips, Tips & Tricks for Families
Recently, I spotted a new line of pet products at the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney – perfect for your “fur babies”! I spotted some adorable squeaky toys in the shape of Disney Parks classic food, like the Mickey Ice Cream Bar – and in the shape of shoes and bows from certain Disney characters. There were also many bows and bandanas for your pups neck. As well as some plush chew toys in the shape of hats and shoes. DisneyParksBlog.com shares that “several colorful leashes with matching collars that give a nod to Mickey Mouse a personalized dog...

60 Days to 60 Years of Disneyland: 2003 Was a Honey of a Year!

July 3, 2015 in All Posts, disneyland, disneyland resort, fun facts
This post is part of a special Disney community countdown to the Disneyland 60th anniversary called 60 Days to 60 Years.  Disney Parks, east and west coast, have been a life-long love of mine from my first trip as an infant and then dozens of times since. But 2003 was a very special year, and the most special trip to Disneyland ever, because it was my Honeymoon!             My husband Todd and I were 21 years young, and this was our first time planning a trip from head-to-toe, our first vacation independent of our families, the first...

Everything You Need to Know about the Disneyland Resort Pressed Coins

July 2, 2015 in All Posts, Big Kids, disney california adventure, disneyland, disneyland 60, disneyland hotel, disneyland resort, downtown disney, gifts, holidays, saving money, Tips & Tricks for Families, what to pack
If you’re looking for a fun and fairly inexpensive souvenir to get the whole family involved in and also to commemorate your Disneyland Resort visit(s) – look no further than the specially themed pressed coins! As my kids get older I am always on the lookout for new and/ or fun activities that they can get involved in and excited about while we are visiting the Disneyland Resort.  Most recently, they have taken a special interest in the pressed coin machines.  I’ve fielded many questions ranging from “how do they do that?” to “can we collect them all?”  Not...

How to survive the Disneyland selfie stick ban.

June 30, 2015 in All Posts, disneyland, disneyland resort, photography, Tips & Tricks for Families
Got a selfie stick? Leave it at home if you will be heading to Disneyland or Walt Disney World because Disney has finally put a ban on these super annoying vanity sticks that not only obstruct everyone’s view at shows but post a real safety hazard on attractions–even the slow ones. If you are you super bummed out that you can no longer have your selfie stick at Disneyland, here are five tips to help you through your next visit 1.  Ask someone to take your photo. It’s old fashioned and quaint and maybe you’ll make a new friend....

16 things parents do at Disneyland that they do not do in real life.

June 25, 2015 in All Posts, attractions, babies & toddlers, Big Kids, characters, dining, disney california adventure, disneyland, disneyland resort, top posts
Heading out to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure means that with the kids in tow, you as the parent can do, say, or get away with things that outside the park would look or sound ridiculous, or possibly even make the local authorities take notice of you. For the cost of the “Disney escape” for a few hours, anyone–and I do mean anyone–can let loose and take part in the following activities without even a hint of judgement.   1. GIANT TURKEY LEGS Walking down Main Street or through Fantasyland while eating a massive Flintstone-sized turkey leg is something you...

Stride Rite shoes – Summertime magic for little feet

in All Posts, babies & toddlers, Big Kids, product review, shopping tips
Disclosure: This product review contains affiliate links. Stride Rite is a force to be reckoned with in the world of children’s footwear. The company has been selling made-to-last shoes for a century, and I am a huge fan of their commitment to quality and making shoes stylish that kids actually want to wear. Best of all, Stride Rite works with Disney to provide super cool Disney, Marvel and Star Wars-inspired footwear for kiddos of all ages. With three active boys, we go through shoes like you wouldn’t believe, and while there may be less expensive shoes out there, Stride...

Fanny packs, Fantasyland and faux photos: a glimpse at Disneyland in 1994 #60DaysTo60Years

in All Posts
My first visit to Disneyland at 4 years old set the stage for my love of The Happiest Place on Earth, but it was really our family vacations in the 1990s that firmly imprinted the park on my memory and made it a place filled with familiarity and magic that would last into my adulthood. My most vivid memories of experiencing Disneyland as a youngster were made then, and I’ve carried them with me as I’ve grown to love the resort through an adult and parent’s eyes. We vacationed at Disneyland at least every other summer during my pre-teen...
