Science of Gingerbread Exhibit Now Open at Discovery Cube LA and OC #discoverycubemoms

December 7, 2015 in All Posts, Discovery Cube, other so cal tourist attractions
The Science of Gingerbread exhibit at the Discovery Cube science centers in Los Angeles and Orange County (very close to Disneyland) is going on now through January 3. This fun exhibit uses everyone’s favorite holiday cookie, gingerbread, to introduce visitors to a variety of scientific concepts, ranging from chemical reactions to the physics of building a study structure in earthquake-prone California. We recently visited the Los Angeles Cube and had a really great time! Here is a look at what you can expect to find at the Discovery Cube in Los Angeles.   Annual Gingerbread Derby Children are given...

12 Days of Star Wars: Daily activities for families to get ready for The Force Awakens

December 6, 2015 in All Posts, crafts, disney at home, Disney entertainment, movies, star wars
Star Wars is a religion in our house. Seriously. My husband often uses examples from the movies when talking to the boys about their behaviors and the choices they make. To say we are “excited” about the opening of “The Force Awakens” would be a bit of an understatement. To help make the wait a little more manageable, I’ve put together a list of daily family friendly activities that we will be engaging in to get us to December 18.   Oh course, all of the activities below are great but if you need a substitute, the best one...

Disney at Home: Cheesy Enchilada Soup

December 3, 2015 in All Posts, disney at home, disney california adventure, disneyland resort, recipes
I don’t know about you, but as delicious as my Thanksgiving meal was, I’m ready to move on from the leftover turkey dinners to something with a little more kick! This cheesy enchilada soup recipe from the Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe in Disney California Adventure Park looked like a winner – something a little spicy, a bit cheesy, and a lot warm. Granted, I’ve never had this soup in the Parks – I’m pretty sure the only thing I’ve ever ordered from FF&P is my morning Starbucks coffee – but after trying this recipe I’ve decided I should definitely...

An early look at the process of bringing Zootopia to the big screen

in All Posts, animation, Disney entertainment, movies
Back in October, I was invited to attend a very special media preview and look behind the scenes of the Disney animated film Zootopia–slated to premiere in theaters March 4, 2016. We saw extended clips and scenes from the film and were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime look at the stages, work and development that goes into bringing a complex animated feature to life. Zootopia is a modern mammal metropolis in a world sans humans. It has habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, but at is city core is the melting pot where animals from every environment live...

10 Best Reasons to Visit Disneyland During Holiday Time

December 2, 2015 in All Posts, christmas, disney at home, disney california adventure, disneyland, disneyland 60, disneyland resort, holidays, recipes
Holiday time at Disneyland is my absolute favorite time of year at the Disneyland Resort. It’s better than summer and Halloween combined (in my opinion). This year, holiday time is extra special because of the Disneyland Diamond Celebration. Here are 10 reasons why I love holiday time and think you should plan a visit before it ends January 6.   “it’s a small world” Holiday I know there are a lot of people who hate the idea of starting Christmas before Thanksgiving, but for me, I say, “BRING IT ON!” In my heart each year, I start celebrating the...

Make this weekend a Good Dinosaur weekend with the movie and the board game!

November 30, 2015 in All Posts, animation, Big Kids, disney at home, disney consumer products, Disney entertainment, movies
Recently, the husband, kids and I screened the new Disney Pixar move, The Good Dinosaur. The movie takes place on an Earth in which the asteroid that hit the planet and sent the dinosaurs into extinction never happened. In this version of Earth, dinosaurs are “evolved;” they speak to one another and maintain families and relationships while still maintaining some of their less evolved attributes like being hunting carnivores. The film follows Arlo, an apatosaurus, who as the runt of his family continuously struggles to make his mark among his siblings. Through a string of events Arlo finds himself traveling...

Disneyland Galactic Grill Review and Menu Prices

in dining, disneyland, disneyland resort, star wars, tomorrowland
As part of the Season of the Force, Tomorrowland Terrace has become the Galactic Grill with a whole new menu offering dark side and light side items. Overall we were impressed with how creative and delicious all of the dishes were, and Disneyland’s comittment to offering delicious, fresh ingredients really shined. You can’t go wrong with any of the new menu items. Here is what you will find at lunch and dinner: The First Order Specialty Burger is a patty of angus beef and chorizo, topped with fried cherry peppers and spicy-lime aioli on a dark bun served with fruit...
