An Evening Out with Disney Interactive Media Group and Toontown Giveaway
May 28, 2010 in All Posts, disney video games and online
Fun games, good food, and great conversation. Oh, and it does appear that my middle son, B, is sitting unsupervised, but I swear that I’m just out of frame! Last week, my children and I attended a wonderful party hosted by Disney Interactive Media Group–the folks who bring Disney video games to life. Hosted at the always fabulous Hollywood and Highland (home of the Kodak Theater where the Oscars are held), the event was catered by Wolfgang Puck and it was a dream come true for my five year old who got to play video games he had never...
Friday Fun Fact: What It Takes To Keep Disneyland Looking Great
May 21, 2010 in All Posts, disney california adventure, disneyland, disneyland resort, fun facts
Just the facts on what it takes to keep Disneyland looking fabulous: More than 5,000 gallons of paint are used each year to give Disneyland its never-changing look. There are almost 20 million gallons of water in the ten bodies of water found in Disneyland. Disneyland streets are washed and steam-cleaned after closing each day. And for my former tour guide friends, you will be happy to know that there are (still) more than 100,000 light bulbs used, including 11,000 “rim lights” outlining the buildings on Main Street, U.S.A. Have a fun fact to share? Send it to me...
Friday Fun Fact: Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Disneyland Corn Dogs
May 7, 2010 in All Posts, dining, disneyland resort, video
Love Disneyland corn dogs? Of course you do. Who doesn’t? Recently, Disneyland Resort guests have had a tough time finding the corn dogs due to the refurbishment of the red corn dog cart on Main Street and construction at Disney’s California Adventure. My dear friend Suz Broughton over at the blog “Alive in Wonderland” shot this great video with Gary Maggetti, Disneyland’s director of Food and Beverage. Not only does she get to the bottom of where guests can purchase those delicious dogs on a stick (now and in the future), but finds out the story behind the Disneyland...
As a parent, I had always dreaded the day that one of my children would ask me why the characters don’t speak at Disneyland. It’s funny that the silence is accepted up until that certain age when kids become too smart for their own good. My oldest son was 4 1/2 when he asked me and I was caught off guard without a good answer–in spite of knowing that this question would one day happen. I’m not sure how I responded, but whatever I said seemed to suffice and buy us some time on the inevitable realization on how...
Friday Fun Fact: You Won’t Believe How Much Disneyland Guests Eat!
May 1, 2010 in All Posts, dining, disneyland resort, fun facts
In one year guests buy at both parks: An estimated 3 million hamburgers, 2 million hot dogs, 6.5 million orders of french fries, 1.6 million servings of popcorn, 3.2 million servings of ice cream, 1.9 million gallons of soft drinks and 2.8 million churros. What are your favorite foods at the resort? I love the Dole Whips, the English Toffee at the Candy Palace, and the fish and chips aren’t too shabby either. Clearly, I am a very healthy eater!
On April 6, my husband and I welcomed our third son into our family. “Baby C” weighed in at 6 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 20 inches long. He is an absolute doll! So far, I’ve had very little sleep and adjusting to life with three boys has been crazy! Our first trip to the grocery store was a little stressful. I went to our new Fresh and Easy grocery store. I was thankful for the up-close parking for “adults with children” but disappointed to discover the store’s self checkout when it was time to leave, as that was...

Friday Fun Fact: A Little Bit of Disneyland Attractions’ History with Jack Lindquist
April 17, 2010 in All Posts, disneyland, disneyland resort, fun facts
Jack Lindquist was hired by Walt Disney as Disneyland’s first advertising manager, and eventually played a key role in making the park a world-famous tourist attraction. From marketing the original “E tickets” to lobbying for Disneyland’s expansion, Jack was involved in nearly every aspect of the theme park. During his 38 years with the company, he spearheaded a myriad of Disney projects including, Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom Club, Disney Dollars, the Disneyland Pigskin Classic, the Ambassador Program, and Grad Nites. He served as Disneyland’s first president from 1990 until he retired in 1993. He was named a “Disney Legend”...
Friday Fun Fact: Keeping the Resort Clean and Green
April 10, 2010 in All Posts, disneyland resort, fun facts
Disney parks are known for being very, very clean. It stands to reason considering, Disneyland uses 1,000 brooms, 500 dust pans, and 3,000 mops each year. Approximately 30 tons of trash are collected during a busy park day. That’s a lot of trash! The custodial department collect 12 million pounds of trash each year. Custodial cast members are vital in bringing together the Disneyland show and making the resort the enjoyable family destination that it is. The Disney company has had environmental campaigns going on within its corporate structure since before green was cool and in light of its long-time...
