Welcome to the Disney Blog Hop. Sorry it is up so late this week! I had trouble with blogger all day yesterday and couldn’t get any posts up. I tried again today and this is the SECOND time I have had to write this post. (You will have to excuse the type-os in my haste to get this up!) This week’s blog hop theme is “under the sea.” In case you missed it, I posted a ride review of the Little Mermaid and details from the imagineers behind the attraction about why 2011 was just the right time to...

The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Under Sea Adventure
June 27, 2011 in All Posts, ariel's under sea adventure, attraction tips, attractions, disney california adventure, disneyland resort, Tips & Tricks for Families
For more than 20 years, Disney fans have been waiting for a theme park attraction that captures the charm and fantasy of Ariel’s under sea world. Earlier this month, The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Under Sea Adventure opened to happy guests at Disney California Adventure Park. I had the opportunity to discuss the attraction with a number of the creative minds who helped bring this attraction to life. The attraction utizies omni-movers shaped like clam shells (just like the doom buggies inside Haunted Mansion) and guests are taken down…down…down to Ariel’s world beneath the waves. Once inside, guests are treated to...

Welcome to this week’s Disney Blog Hop. This week it’s all about “magic moments.” In case you missed it, last night I posted some pictures of my son Brandon’s magic moments with the Queen of Hearts at Disneyland this Tuesday. This week I am cohosting with Manda’s Disney Blog. Manda publishes a blog about Disneyland Paris and all things Disney and lives in Scotland. Please stop by Manda’s blog and check out all of her great posts! When it comes to magic moments, there are plenty of magic moments to be had at Disneyland’s new Soundsational Parade. Check out...
Mickey’s Soundsational Parade
in All Posts, disneyland, disneyland resort, entertainment, entertainment tips, video
If you haven’t experienced it already, Mickey’s Soundsational Parade is Disneyland’s newest parade and in my opinion, the best parade since the Lion King Parade back in the 1990s. (And that’s saying a lot given the fact that I LOVED that parade and saw it hundreds of times.) Mickey’s Soundsational Parade brings together three things Disney is known for: great live (and recorded) music, beloved characters, and beautiful floats. I was luck enough to sit down with two of the parade’s creators, John Addis and Steve Davison, and learn about the creation of Soundsational. I swear I could have...
(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: The Queen of Hearts in a Magic Moment
in All Posts, boys, characters, disneyland, disneyland resort, main street, photography
Yesterday, my son Brandon and I had a special day for just the two of us at the Disneyland Resort. We had a wonderful moment as we walked around Town Square. I pointed out the Queen of Hearts just as we got off the horse-drawn street car. She was walking alone–no guests hounding her–when she stopped to sign an autograph. She looked down and saw Brandon with his sword and its sheath pulled through a belt loop of his shorts. She pulled the whole thing out and took the sheath for herself and handed Brandon his sword for...
Tom Staggs, Disney Parks, and Families
June 17, 2011 in All Posts, disneyland, disneyland resort, walt disney world
Disneyland started with the dream of creating a place where families could come together and have fun. Since opening day July 17, 1955, a lot has changed at Disneyland and now Walt’s concept of safe and clean family fun can be found around the world. Yet no matter how big Disney parks and resorts have grown, one thing has remained the same: it’s all about family. Tom Staggs and me inside BlueSky Cellar. I have been working with the Disneyland Resort and a number of other business units in the Walt Disney Company to provide coverage for my website, blog, book, and videos for more...
Hurray! It’s Disney Blog Hop Day! If this is your first Disney Blog Hop, I would like to welcome you to the family. And let me tell you, this blog hop has really turned into a family of sorts. I started the Disney Blog Hop early this year as a way for Disney bloggers to connect, interact, and learn from one another and it has really taken off. I’ve met a lot of great bloggers because of the blog hop and love seeing new blogs pop up on the Linky every week. Please leave a comment on why you...
