There’s nothing like a professional baseball game–the crack of the bat, the smell of hot dogs and peanuts, the familiar sounds of an organ playing classics from the past… and a pirate invasion. Ok, maybe “invasion” isn’t the right word, but last Saturday was Disney Junior day at Dodger Stadium and fans of all ages were able to see three of today’s most popular pirates Sharky, Bones, and Jake from Jake and the Never Land Pirates. We chose this very game to be our boys’ first professional baseball experience because I seriously have a thing for mixing a wee...

Interview with Sean Astin, the voice of Special Agent Oso
August 26, 2011 in All Posts, Disney entertainment, disney junior
Last week, I posted an interview with your kids’ favorite pirates, Sharky and Bones. In my on-going series of videos on Disney Channel and Disney Junior stars, I am pleased to present to you my interview with Sean Astin. As parents, we grew up with Sean as Mikey in “The Goonies” and Rudy in the movie “Rudy.” As adults, we loved him as Sam in the “Lord of the Ring” movies. Your kids love Sean as the voice of Special Agent Oso, on the popular Disney Junior cartoon by the same name. Special Agent Oso is a fuzzy, lovable,...
The D23 Expo and my magic moment with Richard Sherman
August 23, 2011 in All Posts, d23, Disney entertainment
I’m back home from my weekend of Disney, DISney, and more DISNEY! The D23 Expo was indeed the ultimate Disney fan experience. From presentations on Disney history to Disney stars to Disney fans…and Disney UBER fans, the expo was a lot of fun and a lot of pixie dust for all in attendance. The picture Imanaged to snapwith my iPhone. My best moment, by far was when I saw the great Richard Sherman getting ready for an event. I live in L.A. and see celebrities all over town. As a tour guide, I also met many famous people. There...
If your house is anything like mine, Jake and the Never Land Pirates is a pretty big deal. My kids are so incredibly excited for the their upcoming DVD and CD. The cartoon is good, but what makes it great is the music by the Never Land Pirate Band. By now, most of you have seen my Youtube video of Sharky and Bones in concert in Walt Disney World last March. (If you haven’t seen the video…what are you waiting for?) Yesterday, at the D23 Expo, I had the opportunity to interview Sharky and Bones as their alter egos,...

With my dear friends, Mickey Mouse and Suz Broughton Tonight is was honored to attend the media preview of the D23 Expo. After being greeted by Mickey, we entered the Disney Parks area of the expo where we were welcomed by Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Resorts. (And I’m really happy to say that he remembered Suz and me from when we met him at the Summer Soundsational event!) We enjoyed lovely food (mini Monte Cristo sandwiches) and wine and the great exhibits. I will have a full report within the week. In the meantime, here is an...
I am packing for a weekend of Disney overload at the D23 Expo! Stay tuned next week for all of my coverage from the Expo–including interviews with Sharky and Bones from the Never Land Pirate Band and David Arquette,...
(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: D23 Expo Rewind + Tips for Fans and Families
August 17, 2011 in All Posts, d23
Back in September of 2009, I attended the first D23 Expo. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. Here’s a few tips if you are attending the expo this weekend: Get there early and plan out all of the things you want to see and do. The panel discussions are really interesting, as are the different presentations. There are a lot of things going on all at one time, so plan out what’s most important to you. The expo caters to families with exhibits on Disney toys, the parks, video games, and the like. There...

Guests can celebrate their birthday at any of the resort’s full-service restaurants, character dining locations, or through Disney hotel room service with a personal size cake (Disney Princess Jewelry Box or Disney Pirate Treasure Chest) complete with a special surprise. The cakes are $15 and should be reserved ahead of time by calling (714) 781-DINE. If you are looking to book a birthday...

Located a little more than a mile from the Disneyland Resort is the Embassy Suites Anaheim – South. The Embassy Suites is more than just a family-friendly hotel. This hotel is made for families in every way. Upon entering the jungle-themed hotel, guests are greeted by friendly staff and kids are happily surprised to see a big water fall feature and streams with fish and turtles. My boys could have hung out looking at the water features for hours if we’d let them. The Embassy Suites Anaheim -South is an all-suite hotel which an ideal set up for families....
