Mickey with a beard and mustache. Try not to be toojealous of my Photoshop skills. 🙂 Yesterday, my family and I visited Disneyland for the first time since the new facial hair guidelines went into effect throughout Disney. Essentially, the appearance guidelines now allow Cast Members to grow out beards. Mustaches were folded into the guidelines several years ago, and the new guidelines allow Cast Members to grow out their beards while not working (on vacation, away at school, etc.). When the mustache guideline went into effect several years ago, male Cast Members grew out their upper lips, but...

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Taking a spin under the sea on King Triton’s Carousel
April 11, 2012 in All Posts, disney california adventure, disneyland resort, photography
King Triton’s Carousel in Disney California Adventure park is my family’s go-to attraction on busy days when the kids just can’t handle another long line. Like King Arthur’s Carrousel in Disneyland, the line, if there is any, moves very quickly and it’s always fun to watch the park whiz by.

Photo from Google Maps. Although Disneyland’s Anaheim location was one of the first plots of land Walt Disney looked at after deciding he did not have enough room to build his dream park near the Disney Studios in Burbank, California, he did pick a winning location because of its easy access to the 5 freeway. That being said, the convenient access to the Disneyland Resort can come at a cost to many unknowing travelers. When booking a Disneyland Resort vacation, be very careful of the location of the hotel or motel in which you choose to stay. Many hotels...

Fun Fact Friday: Disneyland, A Movie Premiere
April 6, 2012 in All Posts, disneyland, fun facts, Randy, Tips & Tricks for Families
Walt Disney got his start with theatrical animated shorts, and later moved into animated features. He was a story-man, with his heritage in the movies. The Walt Disney Company’s DNA is storytelling on the silver screen. It may come as no surprise, then, that Disneyland itself welcomes you into the world of living, immersive stories with a subtle nod to the movies.Think about entering Disneyland Park. Have you ever looked down after you stepped through the gates? You’re walking on red stone/pavement. This is your red carpet arrival. What’s to come is still veiled, hidden behind the train station...
Disney. It’s as American as apple pie and Coca Cola. I think that’s maybe deep down one of the reasons I love Disneyland so much. In his opening day speech, Walt Disney said the follow: “Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, dreams and hard facts that created America…with the hope that it becomes a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.” Throughout the U.S. Disney Parks are amazing tributes to yesterday’s America from Liberty Square and the Hall of Presidents in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom to Frontierland, New Orleans Square and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln...
Currently out of the “Disney Vault” are two really fun Disney DVD releases–The Lion King 1 1/2 and The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride. Available on special edition Blu-ray combo pack, these two movies continue the tale told in the first Lion King movie. Hilarity reigns in the motion picture comedy-adventure that takes you waaay back to the beginning before Simba’s tale began…now more fabulous than ever for the first time in a 2-disc Blu-ray Combo Pack! ...
Yep. These are embarrassing, but totally awesome. On Monday of this week, my brother and his wife welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Charlie, into the world and to celebrate, I thought I’d post some pictures of my brother (and our family) at Disneyland when we were kids.
It is difficult to visit a Disney Park for the first time without making the obvious comparisons to one’s “Home Park;” difficult to resist the “mine is better than yours” mentality. Every park I have visited (not done yet!) has its own personality, with elements that make it truly unique. To all bonafide Disney fans, there really is no good or bad, there is only magic with a different point of view. That appreciation for “all things Disney” is a good place for us to start when journeying to Disneyland Paris…1. The Second Star to the Right Unless you’ve...
