May 19, 2012 in All Posts, legacy annual pass
Tomorrow, the Disneyland Resort will be increasing its ticket and annual passport prices. It’s true and was announced on the Disney Parks blog. According to reports on other websites not confirmed by Disney, the annual passport increases across the board are very substantial. That being said, if you were putting off renewing an annual pass that is expiring soon, now is a really good time to do it. If it’s not time for you to renew your annual pass, you can purchase a voucher for a new pass and redeem it on your first visit after your pass expires....

With the reopening of the Matterhorn just four weeks away, this seems like a good day to share an interesting tidbit or two about the landmark (in more ways than one) attraction. The Matterhorn Bobsleds opened on June 14, 1959, along with the Submarine Voyage, the Disneyland-Alweg Monorail, the Fantasyland Autopia, and more, all part of what many refer to as Disneyland’s Second Grand Opening. This day also marked the debut of the “E-Ticket”, with the Matterhorn and the Submarine Voyage being the very first E-Ticket attractions ever! One of the more famous Walt Disney anecdotes centers on this very attraction. The...

We’ve all been there. It’s the excitement of a new and exciting experience that challenges, amazes, and entertains us beyond our expectation and makes stepping away quite difficult. Perhaps you remember this feeling when you received your first Disney trading pin, started a jigsaw puzzle, or began watching a new thrilling television show. Image courtesy of TCM. Several weeks ago I had the esteemed opportunity to attend a screening of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs hosted that the world famous Graumann’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California as part of the Turner Classic Movies Film Festival. Shown on behalf of Disney by D23, the screening was the first showing of the restored film. A logical selection for the TCM Film Festival, Snow White was the first animated feature and changed movies forever. While being made, it was dubbed by many in the industry as “Disney’s Folly,” but once it opened, it earned...

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Indiana Jones…to the rescue!
May 16, 2012 in adventureland, All Posts, disneyland, merchandise, photography, shopping tips
For years, my son Brandon has been begging us to buy him the Indiana Jones playset sold at the Disneyland Resort. We were against it because it contains a gun, but as it sometimes happens in parenthood, we gave it to him with the caviat that he can only have it outside in the backyard and not point it at anyone. Brandon thinks his Indiana Jones attire is so incredibly cool and wishes that he could stare at himself in it for hours. Since he can’t play with it and stare at himself at the same time, one day...
If you’ve heard of runDisney, then certainly you know the name Jeff Galloway! I had the absolute privilege of meeting and running with Jeff at the Walt Disney World Meet Up & Eat Up event prior to the September Wine & Dine Half Marathon , and then again during the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend’s Meet-Up and Fly Away. To be honest, I had some trepidation as I set off very early both mornings. Would little ‘ole me be able to keep pace with a member of the 1972 US Olympic track team? How would I fit into the pack of runners during...
