Rev your engines because it’s time for family fun in Cars Land!

Last week, I attended a media preview event in which I was able to tour Cars Land and Buena Vista Street. As we approached the construction walls, I was all sorts of nervous. After seeing and hearing so much about Cars Land all these years, would it measure up to my expectations? As I was ushered through an entrance in those illustrious construction walls, there before me was Radiator Springs. As in Radiator Springs right out of the movie…or like I had stepped right into the movie. It was tough to take it all in at once. Route 66 in...

Buena Vista Street: The beauty in the details
June 13, 2012 in All Posts, buena vista street, disney california adventure, disneyland resort, fun facts, interview, video
Think Buena Vista Street is just an entry way to the newly reimagined Disney California Adventure park? Think again. Buena Vista Street transports guests to the California that Walt Disney experienced when he stepped off the train in 1923 and continues to follow the architecture of the following decade. Buena Vista Street, like its Main Street counterpart is rich in beauty, details, craftsmanship and storytelling that can only be accomplished by Disney. Before I go into some of my favorite details, I would like to share with you a little bit about the psychology, backstories and creation of Buena Vista...
(Almost Wordless Wednesday): Sally’s Cozy Cone in the new Cars Land
in All Posts, Cars Land, disney california adventure, disneyland resort, photography
Sally’s Cozy Cone is a bright splash of color along Cars Land’s Route 66 and serves a variety of foods–all served in cones–from desserts to savory dishes like chili. (Babes In Disneyland will feature a full review of this quick service restaurant soon.) In the meantime, I wanted to share these beautiful pictures I shot just before the Cone’s completion while at an advance preview media event. Enjoy!I love that the imagineers went the “extra mile” in designing Cars Land. No detail was left out–including cracks in the road. Radiator Springs looks and feels like it’s always been in the...

On June 5, I attended a special media preview of Cars Land. My information, photos and opinions had to be kept under wraps until today, June 13. The days between my preview and today were tough. I was bursting at the seams wanting to share all I had seen and experienced, while at the same time I was perplexed as to what I would post first. Believe it or not, I had already written several other posts before this one and then came to the realization that this was to be the clear choice as to what everyone wants...

My Favorite Disney California Adventure Memory: Disney’s California Food & Wine Festival
June 12, 2012 in All Posts, disney california adventure, vy
Disney California Adventure holds a special place in my heart. As luck would have it, one of my first jobs in college was as a show hostess and dough divider at the Boudin Bakery Tour on the Pacific Wharf when the park first opened in 2001. I’ve watched it grow and change over the past 11 years and one of the most exciting events that DCA offered was the Disney’s California Food & Wine Festival. For years, I had heard of the Epcot Food & Wine Festival at Walt Disney World and wished that the Disneyland Resort would host...
Annual Passholder Preview: Buena Vista Street and Cars Land

This past weekend (June 9 & 10), The Disneyland Resort offered D23 Members and Disneyland Annual Passholders (APs) the opportunity to purchase tickets for morning and afternoon previews of Buena Vista Street and Cars Land at the newly redesigned Disney’s California Adventure (DCA). While many people won sweepstakes tickets to see the redesigned areas before the grand opening on June 15, I opted to purchase two preview tickets (before results of the sweepstakes were revealed). The proceeds from my purchase will be donated as part of a $500,000 donation to CHOC Children’s Hospital and Anaheim Community Foundation. With the...
Radiator Springs Racers at Disney CaliforniaAdventure. Photo courtesy of the Disneyland Resort Hurray! Tomorrow’s Wednesday, which means it’s almost time for all of the great coverage on the newly reimagined Disney California Adventure park to begin! I have so many fun things coming your way but I can’t post them all at once. I plan on putting up at least three posts per day (if not more), so please check back throughout the day, every day for the next week or two for more information, pictures, videos and fun. If you want to know about posts as soon as...
My Favorite Disney California Trip: A First Time Experience on California Screamin’
June 11, 2012 in All Posts, attraction tips, attractions, disney california adventure, disneyland resort
Last summer we had several guests visiting from out of town, which in my book is the perfect excuse for a Disneyland Resort trip! A group of great friends, including Evan (my trusty sidekick), Steve, Cheryl, Logan, my Mom, and Aunties Pat and Cathy, and I all piled into my “Mommy-Van” for a fabulous weekend full of new experiences, lots of fun, and of course — laughter. Even though we visit Disney California Adventure frequently, I make a special effort to do something different each and every time — and this trip was no exception. We danced with Phineas...
My Favorite Disney California Adventure Memory: Turtle Talk with Crush
in All Posts, disney california adventure, Randy
In January of 2010, my parents, Rodney and Kay, came back out to California to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. My wife, Faye, and I spent a week with them celebrating. We had times with other family, a day at Sea World, and of course, two days at the Disneyland Resort. There were countless special memories during that week, but one of my absolute favorites was while we were at Disney California Adventure. From the day Turtle Talk with Crush, in the Animation Building, opened–July 15, 2005, in case you were curious (sorry, I can’t help myself)–we have loved...
