Summer 2017 is gearing up to be an exciting time for visitors to the Disneyland Resort. As the Resort makes the transition from spring break crowds and Grad Nites, we are excited for brand new experiences and the return of some of our classic favorites this summer. We’ve gathered a list (all in one place!) of 11 reasons you have to visit the Disneyland Resort this summer. Oh, let us count the ways!
Classic Space Mountain Returns
Disneyland’s “Season of the Force” is slowly making way for the return of the classic Space Mountain we know and love, which has spent most of the past year either in “Ghost Galaxy” overlay (for Halloween) or in the fun, Star Wars-themed version, “Hyperspace Mountain.” Fans of the original, rock & rollin’ adventure through space can rest assured that the classic Space Mountain attraction will be back in time for summer!
Main Street Electrical Parade Extended!
We’ve all been dealt with a dose of nostalgia as the happiest homecoming on earth came in the form of the Main Street Electrical Parade. Now extended until August 20th, visitors to the Disneyland Resort this summer can make sure to add this to their bucket list before it goes away!
Looking for a fantastic way to enjoy a great meal inside the park and have a great seat for this timeless parade? Learn more about the Blue Bayou dining package!

Marvel’s Summer of Heroes at Disney California Adventure
We announced earlier this year that the “Summer of Heroes” was going to take over Disney California Adventure beginning May 27th. This summer celebration will bring new entertainment, meet and greet, and memorable summer fun to enjoy with your favorite Marvel characters! You’ll be able to rub elbows with Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot!
Little ones can dance away their energy with the “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off!” as well – which will happen multiple times a day!

Of course, the most exciting update that goes along with the Summer of Heroes is the launch of the “Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT!” attraction!
It’s hard to ignore the major changes that have been made to the former site of the Hollywood Tower of Terror ride at Disney California Adventure, but as the Summer of Heroes opens its doors to the summer crowds, so does “Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT!” You’ll be transported to the world of Starlord, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Drax as they try to escape from the Collector’s lair – it’s going to be heart-pumping fun and we couldn’t be more excited!
As noted in our Instagram post, if you can’t wait until May 27th to ride this new attraction, the Disneyland Resort is offering guests the opportunity to experience the ride before anyone else on Friday, May 26th. For $150, guests can enjoy admission to Disney California Adventure Park between 7pm and 2am, the opportunity to ride the new Guardians attractions, meet and greet with favorite Marvel characters and so much more!

Disneyland is still building and preparing for Star Wars land, but the Rivers of America and Disneyland Railroad can now get back to 100% working order! This means the Disneyland Railroad will begin making it’s familiar route around the Park again, and all of your favorite attractions, such as the Mark Twain Riverboat, Sailing Ship Columbia, Pirate’s Lair at Tom Sawyer Island, and Davy Crockett canoes can go back to their regular programming!
New FASTPASS Attractions!
If you’ve visited the Disneyland Resort recently, you will have noticed that two of the Parks’ most popular attractions are now offering FASTPASS: Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland Park and Toy Story Midway Mania! at Disney California Adventure. You can always check FASTPASS availability on the Disneyland mobile app. Stay tuned for the launch of the new Disney MaxPass: unlimited downloads of their high-resolution PhotoPass images and the convenience of mobile booking and redemption of Disney FASTPASS return times – all by using the Disneyland App. Disney MaxPass will be availableat the introductory price of $10 a day. Fantasmic! is Back!
We can’t mention the return of the Rivers of America without highlighting the return of Fantasmic! The 22-minute nighttime spectacular is celebrating its 25th year at the Disneyland Resort, so there’s a good chance that we’ll see a few changes coming to this show (a favorite among many Babes in Disneyland contributors – myself included!) Oh how we’ve missed Mickey and his imagination!
Goofy’s Kitchen Welcomes Mickey Mouse!
Are you ready for some Disney Dinnertime Magic? Beginning as of May 5 and going through until September 4, Mickey Mouse will be appearing at Goofy’s Kitchen, making it twice as fun to visit the Disneyland Hotel and dine at this character dining experience! D23 Expo 2017
Although this isn’t quite happening at The Disneyland Resort, the D23 2017 Expo returns to the nearby Anaheim Convention Center in summer of 2017 and it’s a must-see for any Disneyland fan that is visiting during the summer season.
Not sure what D23 Expo is? D23 is the official fan club of Disney and every other year, the Walt Disney Company hosts a three-day extravaganza that spans the entire world of Disney – from Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, Disney movie news, Marvel, Star Wars, ABC shows, and so much more! Various members of the Babes in Disneyland team have attended the event since it first launched in 2009. Even better, you don’t have to be a D23 member to attend the Expo!
