The Muppets: Review for families with young children

November 27, 2011 in All Posts, movies, muppets by Babes in Disneyland
It’s time to get things started! It’s time to light the lights! It’s time for you to go see “The Muppets!”

On Wednesday, Walt Disney Pictures released “The Muppets.” By all accounts, this movie has been getting great reviews across the board. In fact, it got 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, which means it has gotten positive reviews from all critics.

Here’s why I loved “The Muppets.”

It’s great for adults!
If you are a child of the ’70s, you grew up loving The Muppet Show and this movie captures the fun and magic of those nights with mom and dad around the television. The humor is perfect…subtle and sometimes not so subtle. Witty…and sometimes silly. And even better are the “inside jokes” that adults pick up on from the days of old. I saw the movie with my six-year-old and found myself looking at other adults around me as I laughed to exchange that, “can-you-believe-they-brought-up-that-old-gag!” look.

It’s great for kids!
My son LOVED “The Muppets.” For him, the movie was a fresh and fun experience. While we had shown him episodes of the old shows that we rented from Netflix, he knew very little about the muppets. He laughed a lot…and the little boy next to him was laughing so hard he could barely keep his little bottom in his seat! The humor in the movie is appropriate for young children. Although attention spans vary by child, I think the movie is best for children 3 1/2 years and old

I really cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed this movie. It is the perfect “date movie” for parents and kids. I had such a blast sharing the Muppets with my son. From the cameos to the jokes to the fun of going back in time and being a kid again, “The Muppets” delivered a really wonderful movie experience.
