Pregnant at Disneyland: Snacks in the Parks

January 11, 2018 in All Posts, pregnant by Vy

When you’re pregnant at Disneyland, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all of the food options offered at the Parks, both savory and sweet.  During your pregnancy, you’re probably experiencing some food aversions (what the heck is that smell?!), wacky food cravings (peanut butter everything!), or you want to chow down on every single thing in sight (Ice cream! Macarons! Donuts! Oh my!)

However, Disneyland isn’t just the land of ridiculous theme park foods. You can actually find some fun and healthier options if you know the right place to look – and that will help balance out your cravings for the not-as-healthy snacks that the Disneyland Resort is known for.

Here are a few of our favorite snacks that our team has indulged in during pregnancy at The Disneyland Resort, and a few tips and alternatives for the mamas-to-be who are looking for a more nutritious option at the Parks.

Our Team’s Favorite Snacks at Disneyland

During your pregnancy, what would be your go-to Disneyland snack?

For Lisa, our fearless blog leader, she thinks Dole Whips and Dole Whip Floats are perfect for moms-to-be. They are a refreshing, pineapple treat that satisfy your sweet tooth while giving you a dose of vitamin C! Not only can you pick one up at The Enchanted Tiki Room inside Disneyland, but now they are offered at The Disneyland Hotel at the Coffee House (and for your non-pregnant pals, they can even get their Dole Whip float with a splash of rum!)

Meanwhile, Contributor Jessica says you can’t go wrong with a Disneyland pickle.  These briny and easy-to-carry treats can be found alongside many other healthy eats and treats throughout the Disneyland Resort, such as veggie cups served with ranch, fresh sliced apples, and even hummus!

When I’m looking for a Disney snack to indulge in that is just the right amount of sweetness, I head over to Jolly Holiday Bakery and grab whatever seasonal Mickey-shaped macaron is available!  I especially enjoyed the Salted Caramel Macaron when they had it, but sometimes you don’t feel as guilty getting the Raspberry Rose macaron.

Tips for Healthy Snacking at the Disneyland Resort

It’s always always a good idea for pregnant mamas to pack a few of their own snacks to the Parks.  I usually bring a reusable water bottle to refill throughout the day (because it’s easy to get dehydrated!) and to bring a few snacks to balance out my Disneyland treat craving.  I like having small bags of trail mix, breakfast bars,  or something that won’t perish if I am in the Parks all day.

However, sometimes it’s not feasible to pack your own healthy snacks (especially for visitors from out of town).  Disneyland does offer a lot of great options for snacking, including some gluten-free options.  As mentioned earlier, we love the fresh spread of fruits and veggies that you can pick up around the Parks.

We’ve also come across these ‘Snacks with Character’ in the Parks.  The Disney Parks launched this line of snacks in 2015 to provide more lifestyle and special diet options.  They partnered with well-known suppliers such as Ocean Spray, Enjoy Life Foods, Way Better Snacks and WOW Baking Company to create these treats.  You can find everything from cookies to tortilla chips – a nice alternative for those who are being more mindful of their food selections at the Parks.  Below are two examples of these snacks you can find!

Disneyland also has the “Mickey Check” icon listed on foods at all the Park restaurants and indicate that those choices are healthier options for your family.  Sometimes the items that are meant for your kiddos are a great and inexpensive way to snack in the Parks.  If you need a pick-me-up while at the Parks, get your hands on a Power Pack, which usually includes 5 small snacks such as Goldfish, a banana, string cheese, carrots, sliced apples… lots of different smaller portioned treats that will help get your energy back up!

PowerPackAs with every pregnancy, trust your instinct and follow doctor’s orders!  However,  there’s plenty of options to treat yourself to something fun at Disneyland during your pregnancy, and many other options to maintain a healthy lifestyle while you are there as well.
