Meet my daddy, Mitch! |
On Sunday, June 17, we all get the opportunity celebrate the amazing men in our lives. Although Father’s Day isn’t exactly right around the corner, it is still a great time to start looking for the perfect gift for any of the fathers or father figures in your life. Whether that special guy is a techie or a sports nut or a Disney fanatic, there is a special present for him at the Disneyland Resort. The tricky thing is figuring out where to go to make sure you’re in the right spot for the right guy. Here are a few of my favorite Dad’s Day gift locations:
Customized watch Lisa bought for her husband. |
1. Fortuosity Shoppe – If you didn’t already know, the Fortuosity Shoppe on Main Street in Disneyland park used to be New Century Timepieces. Although the name (and most of the old merchandise) has changed since then, a selection of watches are still sold inside the store. It would be a crime to mention watches at Disneyland without mentioned the custom watches available at this shop. Lisa actually bought one of these treasures for her husband, which you can read about here. Along with the Artisan Watch Program (which offers custom artwork and watches), the Fortuosity Shoppe also sells Skagen, Bulova, and Citizen watches — all created for Disney. While these watches usually cost between $150-$300 (depending on the style), they are great gifts to save up for. If you think dad may like a watch but aren’t ready to spend so much money, the shop also sells the more souvenir style watches that are around $40. The Fortuosity Shoppe typically also sells stylish fedoras and vintage style clothing that dad may also like.
2. World of Disney- Located outside of the park, World of Disney is a great shopping location to pick up any of the D-Tech merchandise for that techie dad. Though the D-Tech line is sold throughout the Resort, World of Disney tends to carry a broader selection of the line. D-Tech includes everything from cell phone cases, laptop cases, iPad cases, mouse pads, usb hubs, and several other computer and electronic accessories. While there, stop by the Villians Room inside World of Disney to see all of the collectible statues and pieces of artwork that dad may be interested in. This is an especially great place to pick up that well known statue of Mickey and the fireman, which is always a great commemorative piece to give to a father who fights fire.
3. Candy Palace – Like I’ve always said, every real man has at least one sweet tooth. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the newly remodeled Candy Palace on Main Street in Disneyland, Father’s Day shopping is a great excuse to get you inside the confectionary. Here you can pick up fresh made chocolates or caramel apples, sour candy, or just about anything sweet dad may like. My dad is a huge fan of the fresh made pecan nuttles and honeycomb! (If you can’t make it inside the park, you can also visit Marceline’s Confectionary in Downtown Disney.)
4. D-Street – If the dad in your life is as unique as mine (Dad, if you’re reading this, I mean that in the nicest way possible), you’ll need something unique to match that personality. If you’re looking for unique merchandise, D-Street in Downtown Disney is where you’ll find it. This place has everything from Star Wars graphic tees and art pieces, extensive Vinylmation collections, The Beatles clothing, Muppets artwork, and several other random nicknacks and thing-a-ma-bobs.
5. Fly N’ Buy – This last location, I’ll admit, is a bit niche — but definitely worth mentioning. Located across from Soarin’ Over California inside Disney California Adventure park, this small merchandise location has several gift options for aviation lovin’ lads. Since I know a lot of men who have a fascination with fast things that fly, aviation themed merchandise may just be the pilot ordered. You can also purchase trading pins and lanyards here, which is also a fun tradition to start or continue for any dad you’ll be celebrating this June 17th.
Merchandise Moment: Can you name the largest shop that will be located on Buena Vista Street inside Disney California Adventure starting June 15? Hint: The store will share a name with Walt’s father.

Great locations! Especially the fly n buy. My dad loves airplanes and trains. World of Disney and maybe Disney gallery have the all aboard Disneyland trains merch.
