Everything you need to know about the World of Color Dessert Party at Disney California Adventure

May 5, 2016 in All Posts, dining, disney california adventure, Disneyland Q and A, disneyland resort, entertainment tips, paradise pier, Tips & Tricks for Families by Lisa Robertson

IMG_1281When World of Color premiered at Disney California Adventure, it changed the way resort guests experience parks’ hallmark shows. Now, both World of Color and Fantasmic! offer “reserved” viewing options ranging from FASTPASS-style tickets that reserve the section you will view from to dining options that come with reserved viewing. The World of Color Dessert Party is one such option, and when the Disneyland Resort offered to host me and some friends so that we could experience the party, I jumped at the chance.

The dessert party is the ultimate treat if you are a World of Color fan.

What is the World of Color Dessert Party?

The World of Color Dessert Party is a special viewing option for World of Color. The party provides those who purchase a spot the opportunity to dine on delectable snacks and desserts, as well as a choice of drinks with and without alcohol.

Guests attending the party are provided seating and table from which to enjoy the show from a prime viewing area. The area is just far enough from the show that you don’t get showered in water the entire time and close enough to have a perfect view. Party guests are let in to party area approximately 45 minutes before showtime. Cast Members provide food and “table service” style, which means once your at your table you get to sit back, relax and have fun.

What does the World of Color Dessert Party include?

The World of Color Dessert Party provides priority viewing AND SEATING for the World of Color show in addition to the following food items (menu subject to change):

  • Three types of cheeses: brie, mild cheddar and manchego that can be eaten with various bread sticks, crackers and breads in a basket on each table
  • Green seedless grapes
  • Mini chocolate mocha bundt cake (My absolute favorite thing on the plate! I stole my friend Heather’s mini bundt right off her plate!)
  • Waffle bowl with berries and lime yogurt mousse
  • Mini French macaroon
  • Dulce de leche filled shortbread cookie

As with any Disney dining experience, let them know at the time of your reservation about any food allergies so that the chefs can plan accordingly. This is easiest done using the Disney Dining phone number, as opposed to the online reservation system.

Opinions and thoughts on the World of Color Dessert Party.

I had a wonderful time at the World of Color Dessert Party. It was a wonderful way to cap off a lovely day at the parks and really allowed me to watch the show in style while enjoying a night cap! A day at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure is downright exhausting; a lot of the time I’m way too tired to even make it to the nighttime entertainment. The dessert party offers those of us who perhaps can’t face the idea of camping out and then standing to watch World of Color a relaxing option. While this is an experience the entire family can and would enjoy, I think it would be especially nice for a date night or for a girls’ day or night out. I also think it would be an AMAZING opportunity for a proposal. Can you even imagine how lovely it would be to pop the question (or have the question popped) during the show’s finale?!

The World of Color Dessert Party was the ultimate girls’ night experience! I had such a blast with my friends Mindy, Vy and Heather!

If you will be bringing kids (especially small children) to the World of Color Dessert Party, I would recommend calling to make your reservation (as opposed to booking online) so that you can request a standard height table at the time of your reservation, as there are some “bar height” tables and chairs that would not be ideal for families with little ones, and especially not conducive if you have a child in a highchair. I would also recommend calling if you or a family member have special needs that need to be accommodated (like a wheel chair or limited mobility) that may make sitting in the bar-height chairs difficult.

I just tried to call Disney Dining to request “lower tables” and they wouldn’t honor my request even though I have a disabled adult and 2 younger children in our group of 8. In fact, the people at Disney Dining were rushed and not helpful at all. I don’t know what’s going on there. I am frustrated. Thanks for the information. This is an expensive event and the customer service is seriously lacking for the price.

Hi, do you know if it is possible to book in advance (by phone) a table for two? I would like to make a marriage proposal there but would be a lot better if only my and my girlfriend are on the table.
