Watching Disney Junior grow and change over the years has been quite exciting. My kiddos and I have gotten so much joy out of and each new show and keep coming back for more. One of the newest Disney Junior animated series, “Doc McStuffins,” has my three–year–old hooked. The show plays right to one of her favorite things: her love—well obsession really–for stuffed animals. It’s quite entertaining, and I especially appreciate the message of caring and compassion for others that is woven into each episode.
The most important lessons and themes in Doc McStuffins (and creator Chris Nee‘s inspiration for the show) is demystifying doctor visits, medical care and healthy living for kids. The creator was struck by the amount of doctor visits her son had when he was little and saw that there was no children’s programming normalizing this important part of childhood on any of the networks. Doc McStuffins provides parents and caregivers a starting off point for discussing good health, doctors and medical care, which can be very frightening for children.

I have not seen the series, but from your review. I really like the message of caring and compassion. I think it is very important for children to learn those skills as early as possible.
