One of my favorite things about the Disneyland Resort is its history and heritage. Disneyland Park is rich with fond memories of the past that are kept alive through the excitement, enthusiasm, and dedication of Cast Members and Guests. Upon entering Disneyland Park, we’re floated into the land of nostalgia as we revisit places and memories that we’ve experienced in the past. This phenomenon exists because of the continued traditions that weave the past and present together – traditions like hand pulled candy canes! And they’re almost here!
If you’re new to the candy cane tradition or you’ve never known about it, it is definitely worth experiencing. The peppermint candy canes are hand pulled by two Candy Makers (usually two guys named Rob and Chris who have been there for years) and are only available for purchase at the Candy Palace. Since most candy canes are made using sugar pulled by a machine, it is quite a treat to watch (and eat!) how Disneyland makes theirs.
Check out this sneak peak of the process!
Because the candy canes are an annual guest favorite, Cast Members will be distributing tickets at park opening to Guests interested in purchasing the candy canes at the Candy Palace. Each ticket is good for one candy cane and will let the guest know when his or her minty masterpiece will be ready. Be sure to arrive early on candy cane days since there might be a line outside of the Disneyland Main Gate before they open. I suggest avoiding Magic Mornings days since Guests staying at the Disneyland Resort get to enter the park an hour before park open.
Though the dates are subject to change, peppermint candy canes are scheduled to be hand pulled and sold on:
· Wednesday, November 30th (Park opens at 9:00am)
· Friday, December 2nd (Park opens at 8:00am)
· Tuesday, December 6th (Park opens for Magic Mornings Guests at 8:00am and for all Guests at 9:00am)
· Friday, December 9th (Park opens at 8:00am)
· Monday, December 12th (Park opens at 8:00am)
· Friday, December 16th (Park opens at 8:00am)
· Wednesday, December 21st (Park opens at 8:00am.
While you’re there, be sure to check out the other Candy Palace holiday treats featured in this Wordless Wednesday!

So we plan to visit tomorrow, Wed, 11/30 and we’ve never had one of these famous candy canes. My husband said “don’t bother, the line will be too long!” But will it? On a Wednesday after the Thanksgiving holiday?

They are mighty popular! The line could be pretty long. A Food Network special featured them two years ago and they became very, very popular. I doubt it will be terribly crowded. We went on Monday, November 14 and it was HEAVEN!
