Punch it, Chewie!
Disney Parks Blog announced today that Disneyland hit light speed on the opening date of Star Wars Land, which is officially on May 31, 2019! Walt Disney World will follow suit with their own opening on August 29, 2019.
But hold on to your tauntaun, there are a few caveats and details you need to know before you book that trip!
Follow along, young Padawans!
Phase One
Be advised that the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction will not be open during the May 31 debut. The Disneyland Resort has specifically called this “phase one” of the opening. So, if you’re looking for the full Star Wars Land experience in this first outing – well, I won’t tell you the odds of that happening. *wink*
However, you will be able to ride Smuggler’s Run and check out the other shops and stores on Batuu – however, we have no details on how the Parks plan on managing reservation times and ushering guests in and out of the land – stay tuned for more!
Park Admission Required
It goes without saying, but valid theme park admission is required!
For Annual Passholders, be advised that many of your passes will be blocked out for Disneyland during this initial opening. See the blockout calendars for May/June 2019 below.
Reservations will be required
For the first time in Parks history, guests will be required to book a no-cost reservation time to experience the land – only between May 31 to June 23 (subject to availability, so hold on to your hats and glasses because we are sure this is going to be the wildest ride in the.. galaxy). After June 24, reservations will no longer be necessary.
If you have a hotel reservation during this time frame, Disney will assign you a designated reservation time for the land (one reservation per registered guest, so you won’t be able to tag along with a friend who has a hotel reservation).
Star Wars Land and Magic Morning/Extra Magic Hour
Hotel guests and 3-day+ ticket holders will not be able to take experience the land during Extra Magic Hour or Magic Mornings.
No FastPass and MaxPass at the moment
There will not be a FastPass or MaxPass option at this time for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, so be prepared for long queue lines and wait times.
Play Disney Parks Mobile App
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the first land that is fully integrated into the Play Disney Parks Mobile app. Guests can enhance their experience on ‘Batuu’, from translating a galactic language to completing missions.
We can’t wait to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for ourselves!
Stay tuned as we bring you more detail and updated information about the opening!
