These Tigger-iffic treats were even easier to make than the Mickey and Minnie Oreo pops, if you can believe it! These are a great way to recreate the delicious Tigger tail treats found at Disneyland, bringing some of the Disney magic home with you. I completed eight Tigger tails within an hour.
Supplies:
- Orange candy melts, 1 bag
- Regular marshmallows
- lollipop sticks
- dark chocolate chips
- wax paper
- cookie sheet
- tall dipping jar
The candy melts and lollipop sticks can be found at most craft stores.
You’ll begin by melting the candy melts in the microwave by placing them in a TALL and narrow mouth microwave safe container. Try a pint-sized mason jar. It holds one full bag of candy melts. If all the candy melts don’t fit, zap them for 30 seconds, stir and then add the rest. Stir the candy melts at 30 second intervals. Heat for 30 seconds more, then stir. You always need to stir the candy, or whatever you’re melting, to avoid overheating certain areas of the candy and to check on the consistency. Candy melts, like chocolate, hold their shape when heated, until they are stirred. Each microwave is different and so the times may vary. It shouldn’t take more than three zaps at 30 second increments. Do not zap it all at once!
You’ll need three marshmallows per stick. Dip the bottom of the first mallow completely in the orange candy melt. Be sure to cover the bottom completely. Then, using the candy melt as glue, add your second and third marshmallows. Place them on wax paper on a cookie sheet and allow them to harden. You can place them in the fridge to reduce waiting time. The marshmallows could fall off the stick if you don’t “glue” them together and wait for the “glue” to harden.
Dipping the marshmallow pops wasn’t too difficult, although by the end, I was using a knife to spread the candy melts onto the marshmallows.
One candy melt bag made eight or so tails. Remember covering the bottom of the marshmallows at the very beginning? Here is where it pays off. I didn’t dip the bottom of the first two Tigger tails and you’ll notice, they’re a little bald on the bottom.
Place the marshmallow pops in the fridge to harden. Give them about 10 minutes or so in the fridge to harden completely.
Next comes the stripes. Take half a bag of dark chocolate chips and place them in a plastic bag. Make sure the bag is good and sealed. Microwave for 30 seconds. Squeeze the bag. Microwave again if needed. Be careful as the contents may be very hot.
Cut the tip of the corner off of the bag.
There are two different methods you can use to give Tigger tails their stripes. The first takes more patience, but the product looks better. The second is faster, but the finished product may not look so Tigger-y. I used the first technique on these Tigger-O’s. These were made by squeezing the bag and then pulling my hand to the right (or left) without applying any additional pressure. Be sure to give space between each treat to allow the chocolate to get all the way on either side.
If you have any left over Oeros from the Mickey pops, never fear! You’re sure to find a good use for them! |
The above tails were made using the “all over” method. I lined them up and while squeezing the bag simply did large sweeping motions from right to left. It was certainly faster. I also covered the top of the tails with a large thick squeeze. If you are using the “all over” technique, be sure to space your tails out more than I did.
Allow the tails to harden in the fridge. Keep in mind that the chocolate may not harden as fast as the candy melts.
The kiddos loved the Tigger tails. Hubsters isn’t a huge fan of marshmallows, but he gave these treats a seal of approval.
The most wonderful things about Tigger tails is that they are fast and easy. Don’t miss out! These treats are fun, fun, fun!
