Today, runDisney announced their latest race and this time it’s for those of us on the west coast. The Tinker Bell Half Marathon will be held January 29, 2012. Also that weekend will be a Never Land Family Fun Run 5K. That race will be held Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10:30 p.m. The 5K will take place throughout the Disneyland Resort and appears to have a Never Land theme. (They had me at Never Land.)
I’m thinking it would be a lot of fun to turn the 5K into a fun girls’ night. I’m thinking an early dinner, then run the race and head back to the hotel for a little rest, relaxation, and maybe something “refreshing” to drink. Anyone interested in me trying to figure out a girls weekend/night out, leave a comment below so I can gauge actual interest. Also note if you would like me to look into lodging. I am thinking maybe the Hilton Anaheim or Embassy Suites to keep the cost down since the entry fee for the race is $99.
And for those of you who don’t run…you have until January and you can do it! Just start slow and you will be amazed and what you can do. I ran the September 5K at Disneyland and I started training for it two months ahead of time. I went from certified coach potato to a runner (jogger) in plenty of time.

Today’s question came to me on Twitter from Babes In Disneyland follower, Jeff R.

I’m not big on ruining the magic with backstage photos
so these are likely the only backstage photos I’ll
ever post. In this picture I’m with my friend, Marcy.
Question: How can I see the Disneyland roundhouse?
Answer: For those not “in the know” when it comes to trains, a roundhouse is a circular building where trains are repaired and in the case of the Disneyland Resort, the roundhouse is the building where “the magic happens” for the historic Disneyland Railroad Monorail system.
Disneyland’s roundhouse is located backstage on the east side of the park. While tours of the roundhouse are not available, there are two times per year when non-Cast Members can see the roundhouse–the Disneyland 5K and the CHOC Walk.
The Disneyland 5K is held every Labor Day weekend and is a race through both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park. The CHOC Walk is a 5K walk that follows a similar route as the 5K race and takes place in each fall. (I participated in both of these event in 2010.) During both events, guests run/walk past the roundhouse with its doors open, but guests are not permitted inside. All guests have the opportunity to take a picture with one of the train engineers and one of the engines outside the roundhouse…like this!
